Youth: Babies & Preschoolers

Research shows that children who are exposed to books from a young age are more likely to become strong readers and be successful in school. We can help make learning at home fun and easy!

Browse Our Collection

We have lots of sturdy board books – perfect for little hands! We also have a large picture book collection. Not sure where to start? Ask a librarian for suggestions based on your child’s age and/or interests. We love to help! You can also find great book lists by age through Scholastic Parents and Read Brightly.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Sign up for our FREE early literacy program that encourages you to read with your child every day. 1,000 books may sound like a lot, but it adds up quickly! If you read just one book with your child every day, you can reach that goal in under three years. When you sign up, you’ll receive a tote bag and a binder to keep track of the books you read. Every time you reach 100 books, your child will receive a fun prize that will help develop early literacy skills. Stop by the library youth services desk to get started.

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Thanks to K-Ready and generous local sponsors, all children ages 0-5 in Wayne County can sign up to receive a FREE book every month from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library!
