Renovation Updates
We’re excited to share the Centerville Library will begin a major renovation project starting September 2, 2025.
Stay Informed
REMEMBER: The Library is open! However, we’ve temporarily relocated to the old Municiple Building at 204 E Main.
We’ll continue to post updates about the renovation, any temporary closures, and program changes here on our website and on our social media pages.
Thank you for your patience and support as we work to bring you a better Centerville Library!
This important work will help us create a more welcoming, accessible, and updated space for the entire community.
What’s Being Renovated?
Some of the improvements you can look forward to include:
-
New carpet throughout the building
-
Fully renovated bathrooms
-
New meeting rooms for programs and community use
- Smaller, private study rooms
-
A brand-new teen room
We can’t wait to bring these upgrades to life and make the library an even better place to read, learn, and connect.
Temporary Relocation – Old Municipal Building
While renovations are underway, the library will temporarily relocate to the old municipal building at 204 E Main St, Centerville, IN. We expect construction to continue until AT LEAST Spring of 2026. We will update you with that date as our contractors give us information.
During this time, patrons may park along 40 or 1st Street, or continue to park in the library’s existing concrete lot, as long as no construction equipment is there. The book and AV return boxes have moved to in front of the temporary building. Please return AV materials in the wall slot by the front door.
What to Expect During the Renovation
-
We’re staying open! While there may be brief closures, our goal is to remain open as much as possible.
-
Limited on-site materials will be available at our temporary location, including board games, activity kits, and internet hotspots.
-
You can still use the Evergreen catalog to place holds online and pick up your items at our temporary location.
- Document services and limited computers are still available.
-
Programs and services may be adjusted or held off-site—watch for updates!
