Full Job Description

We have an opening available for a maintenance associate. Under the direct supervision of the Director, the maintenance associate ensures that the library’s interior facilities are checked and, if necessary, assembled, fixed, or replaced as needed. Maintenance associates are also responsible for the upkeep of library grounds and might be called upon to occasionally help with overdue books and other library duties.

Principal Responsibilities:
Maintaining library interior facilities including; assembling library equipment and furniture, moving library equipment and furniture, shelving, lighting, ductwork, basic electrical, water, and other repairs as needed

Maintaining library exterior facilities including; upkeep on the parking lot, exterior window washing, outside lighting, flowers, grass, and other seasonal yardwork as needed

Collecting books from the overnight drive thru book deposit

Answers telephones; transfers calls to appropriate areas

Calling library patrons for overdue books, collecting money, and providing accurate change

Verbally promoting upcoming library programs and new services

Assisting with program setup/removal

Helping to prepare arts and crafts materials for programs

Following opening and closing procedures

Other related duties as needed

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED

1+ years maintenance and/or basic mechanical repair experience or equivalent education

Ability to learn and use necessary computer software and telephones

Ability to work in high or small spaces and use basic power tools

Willing to work as a team member or independently

Willing to work inside or outside as required

Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, climb, carry up to 30 lbs, push/pull carts of library materials, type using computer keyboard and mouse, see average-sized font on computer screens and printed materials, accurately count money, and the ability to hear and communicate verbally with others

Work Schedule:
Part-time, around 15 hours per week, flexible schedule
