Place A Hold
While in the online Evergreen catalog, you can request that a book be held for you.
Search until you find the item you are interested in, then click on the “Place Hold” button. Enter your card number (or user name) and password. You will receive an email or phone call when the book has arrived at Centerville and is ready for you to pick up. Holds cannot be placed on other libraries’ audiovisual materials or on books that are less than 3 months old.
If the book you want is not owned by any Evergreen Library, ask the staff at Centerville Library to request the book for you from libraries beyond Evergreen. There is no fee for this service, though occasionally there is a minimal postage fee.
Length of Loans
Library materials circulate for one, two or three weeks.
- Books, audio books and music CDs check out for three weeks.
- New adult fiction, magazines and comics check out for two weeks.
- DVDs check out for one week.
- Downloadable e-books and audiobooks check out for one or two weeks, at the patron’s discretion.
Items may be renewed two times per check out, except DVDs and new books, which renew only once. Log into your account here to renew online. You can also bring the item to the library and have one of the staff members renew it for you.
Items may be returned at any Evergreen library. When returning to Centerville Library, books may be returned in the drop box behind the library. DVDs and VHS tapes should be returned in person whenever possible or in the appropriate drop box, also located behind the library.
Late & Damage Fees
Fines are 25 cents per day beginning the second day the item is late. Fines continue to accrue up to a maximum of $10 per item. After 45 days, an overdue item is considered lost and the patron will be charged the $10 fine, a $10 processing fee, a $10 collection agency fee, and the replacement price of the item (to avoid the fine and collection agency fee, notify the library promptly if you know a book is lost). A patron returning an item that is damaged beyond use will be charged the replacement price of the item plus a $10 processing fee. When lost or damaged items are paid for, they become the property of the patron and no refunds will be given. When fines on a card total $10 or more, the card is blocked from further use until the fines are reduced below $10.
To help avoid late fees, patrons who have an email address in Evergreen will receive email notification three days before items are due and another email on the due date.
