Reopening Safeguards

Per Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order 20-26, the following plan implements, measures, and institutes CDC and Indiana Department of Health safeguards to ensure a safe environment at Centerville Public Library for our employees and patrons, and to minimize spreading the COVID-19 virus.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH SCREENING:

All employees are required to conduct a health self-assessment before reporting for a scheduled work shift. If they have a cough or shortness of breath (difficulty breathing) or any of the following symptoms, they should not report to work: fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell. They are to notify their supervisor immediately. If these symptoms present after an employee has already reported for work, that employee will be immediately isolated and sent home as soon as possible. A thorough cleaning and sanitizing will take place in the areas where the employee was present.

Any staff, or immediate family member (or someone living in the same household) who presents with COVID-19 symptoms (as listed above), must report that to the director immediately, and the employee must expect to self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days if they test positive for the virus.

ENHANCED CLEANING/DISINFECTING PROTOCOLS:

Staff will clean handrails, doorknobs, countertops and other high touch surfaces frequently, in addition to daily cleaning/sanitizing by maintenance staff. All staff are expected to clean/sanitize the workspace they occupy. If sharing a phone with another staff member, the phone will be disinfected after each use.

HANDWASHING/SANITIZING AVAILABILITY:

All staff should wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds upon arrival to work, and frequently throughout the day. Staff should use hand sanitizer after handling materials for each patron. Hand sanitizer will be available to patrons and staff.

SOCIAL DISTANCING/PROTECTIVE MEASURES:

All staff and patrons must wear a mask while in the building. All staff and patrons must practice social/physical distancing of at least 6 feet apart, according to the CDC guidelines. Some of the furniture will be removed to six feet of separation between patrons.

PUBLIC COMPUTER USE:

Public computers, socially distanced away from each other and away from the service desk will be available with a time limit of 30 minutes per day with exceptions made for essential communications such as job searches that may take up to 1 hour per day.

PATRONS:

Please use the provided hand sanitizer upon entering the building. To protect themselves and others, it is required at this time that patrons wear a mask or face covering such as a bandana while inside the building. Please maintain at least 6 feet of social distance between other patrons and staff at all times. Do not enter the building if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or loss of smell or taste. If they exhibit symptoms they will be asked to return at another date when they are feeling better.

QUARANTINE PROTOCOL:

We will follow the directives and protocols of the Wayne County Department of Health or the Indiana State Department of Health if any staff member or household member of a staff member tests positive for coronavirus.
